The Fawcett’s Creek Aerial Sewer Crossing comprised the construction of a steel beam bridge structure supported on bored reinforced concrete piles with reinforced concrete headstocks. The structure was designed to carry a trunk sewer main across Fawcett’s Creek at Kyogle, NSW. The project was completed in February 2025. LRC Geotechnical provided geotechnical engineering support to Frontier Assembly throughout the construction phase. The scope of services included: Geotechnical supervision of eight bored piles to verify founding conditions and confirm adequate embedment into competent bearing strata. Provision of geotechnical advice on revised piling methodology, including a two-stage construction approach incorporating stabilised sand backfilling to mitigate sidewall instability during excavation. Assessment of subsurface conditions encountered during construction and provision of recommendations for revision to pile design where conditions differed from those anticipated in the design documentation. Preparation of piling certification, including preparation of as-built pile logs.
