Landslip Remediation on Broken Head Road

Following extreme wet weather events that occurred in Northern Rivers in February and March 2022, three landslips occurred upslope at to the east of the existing Broken Head Road. LRC Geotechnical were engaged to complete a detailed geotechnical investigation and concept design option report to inform the remediation of landslips. The geotechnical scope works of involved: Coordination and management of traffic control include lane closures to enable drilling. Geotechnical investigation including borehole drilling to 15m depth and geotechnical mapping of slip scarps. Laboratory analysis of encountered soils and rock to ascertain engineering properties. Presentation of ‘to scale’ geological sections to graphically represent underlying strata. Reporting of factual geotechnical conditions and preparation of concept designs for landslip remediation including a) soil nailing retention system and slope reconstruction with lower gabion wall and engineering rock backfill.
